Super Pokemon Rumble has quite a few different Battle Modes, some of which players of Pokemon Rumble may be familiar with, and some completely new modes of battle.

This is the basic mode of the game. Super Pokemon Rumble has a much deeper storyline than its predecessor, with numerous levels and challenges. The Light Springs in the Towns are drying up all across Toy World, and it's up to you to discover the cause, put a stop to it and return the Light Springs.
As you play through the various areas and levels, you can collect coins, which can be used to buy items or new Pokemon. You can also find the toys of the Pokemon you have defeated in battle. Each area will have a boss which must be defeated in order for you to continue with your quest. You have a chance of obtaining the boss Pokemon when you defeat it.
If you played the original Pokemon Rumble you'll remember this mode. You may choose up to three Pokemon to take part in the Battle Royale, which takes place in a ring. You must defeat all the enemies that are thrown at you, including several stronger-than-usual Pokemon. In oder to claim victory here, you must be the last Pokemon standing. There's also a time limit to these battles, to add an extra challenge. Win, and you'll receive a good haul of coins for your efforts.
Not much is known about this mode currently
A nice new mode here, which allows you to control three of your Pokemon at once. These can be difficult however, as you need to make sure all three stay healthy. At certain points in the battle, you can make your Pokemon stand on each other to make a tower in order to share Hit Points and power up your moves. The aim of these battles is to survive the numerous waves of enemy Pokemon until the boss arrives. Once you've taken him down, you've cleared the stage.
Charge Battles are another new mode introduced by Super Pokemon Rumble. You must control a large army of Pokemon, using them to fight your way through various stages and defeating other Pokemon armies. These kinds of battle work slightly differently, requiring you to use combinations to overpower and win against the enemy. You can add new Pokemon to your battle-hardened army as you go.
This mode used the Wireless capabilities of the 3DS. It allows you to team up with a friend who also has the game, and make your way through various levels together. The challenges you encounter will be of a higher difficulty than those found in standard gameplay, to accommodate two players. An advantage to playing Co-Op Mode is that likelihood of finding Pokemon Toys is increased.
Here's an exciting new feature, which utilises the 3DS and Street Pass. If you walk past a player with Super Pokemon Rumble while your 3DS is in Sleep mode, you will have your data sent to them and vice versa. With their data, you can locate their Mii and challenge them with a Pokemon of your choice. These challenges are done like the boss battles in Story Mode. If you win, you win a prize - the Pokemon you battled.
As you communicate and encounter people over Street Pass or Wireless features, you can unlock various Pokemon throughout the game levels. These Pokemon cannot be obtained without activating them first by meeting a certain amount of people. Once activated, they have a chance of appearing in their given level.
Inviting customers to your Toy Shop will also count towards your total amount of people encountered. It'll cost you 10 3DS Play Coins each time you invite a customer, but considering that your visitor will repay you with in-game currency it's well worth the cost - so get walking and earn lots of Play Coins!
