Meet Generation V's answer to the Battle Tower. Unova has it's own battle system, known as the Battle Subway. It works just like the Battle Tower as you play through and battle trainers. The Battle Subway is a large, round station. It is found in Nimbasa City and can be accessed by going into the Gear Station. Once inside, you'll find trains that journey far and wide across Unova.

The different trains all have specific attributes, and you should pick which train you want depending on what kind of battle you're wanting to take part in. The different options are known as Lines, as with many actual Subway Systems.
| Line | Battle Method | Description |
| Green Line | Single Battle | Simple 1 VS 1 battles |
| Dark Green Line | Super Single Battle | Difficult 1 VS 1 battles |
| Red Line | Double Battle | Simple 2 VS 2 battles |
| Pink Line | Super Double Battle | Difficult 2 VS 2 battle |
| Brown Line | --- | Train to Anville Town |
| Orange Line | Multi Battles | Double battles where you team up with a friend/NPC |
| Yellow Line | Super Multi Battles | Double battles where you team up with a friend/NPC |
| Light blue Line | WiFi Battles | Battle through the Subway with a friend over WiFi |
Like with the Battle Tower, you battle 7 trainers consecutively. Once you have beaten all 7 trainers, you have won that streak and earn yourself some juicy Battle Points. These points can be used to buy all sorts of useful items, once you have enough of course.
This is the guy you'll come across if you're taking part in the Single Battle Lines in the Subway (Green and Dark Green). At first only the Green Line will be available to you. If you take the challenge and win 20 battles, you'll encounter Ingo. To gain a 21 winning streak, you must defeat him. He has some strong Pokemon and the challenge will be tough, but you'll gain 10 Battle Points for taking him down. Once he's defeated, your Green Line challenge is over.

Once you've beaten the Green Line, you'll unlock the Dark Green Line (also known as the Super Singles Line). This line allows you to battle much further than before. Continue on to beat 48 consecutive trainers and you'll meet Ingo again. This time he'll come at you with even more formidable Pokemon to battle.
As with Ingo, you'll encounter Emmet on the Double Battle lines (Red and Pink Line). When you first challenge these lines only the Red Line will be availabe to you, but if you beat the boss and earn your 21st victory you'll unlock the Pink Line (aka. Super Double Line).

As before, the Super Doubles Line allows you to battle much further than before. Continue on to beat 48 consecutive trainers, you'll meet Emmet again - with new Pokemon to boot.
If you choose to take on the Multi Battle lines (Orange and Yellow), you'll have the opportunity to battle not one but both of the Subway Masters in a tag battle. Like with the other battle modes, you'll first encounter them once you've won 20 straight wins on the Orange Line. Defeat them to earn your 21 battle streak and unlock the Yellow Line.

Challenge the Yellow Line for some tougher competition. Continue on to beat 48 trainers and the two Subway Masters will rechallenge you with a powerpacked line-up of Pokemon. Crush them and earn your 49th victory and lots of BP.
No matter which line you challenge on the Battle Subway, a number of different Pokemon are completely banned from use. This includes the more uber legendaries, the unobtainables, and all of their various alternate forms.
