Cheren is one of the Player Character's childhood friends, first encountered in your home town of Nuvema Town, the town in which you start the game, along with your other friend Bianca.

Role within the game

Cheren is the smart friend that we all have, and he's particularly versed in Pokemon. As such, he will be around throughout the game to offer you advice while he works toward his own goal of becoming the Champion.

Throughout the game you will battle Cheren as a rival, having received his Pokemon from Professor Juniper alongside you at the start of the game. It appears that he will choose the Pokemon with the type advantage over you.
