Dream World

Sweet dreams are made of this~

The Dream World is just one of the many new aspects of the games in Generation V, in this case part of the website known as the Pokemon Global Link.

Contents

The Basics

The Dream World is accessed by talking to Fennel and then going to bed in her house in Striaton City. This, plus some Dream Mist from Munna or Musharna, will allow you to sync your game up to your Global Link account. We're not yet sure what signing up for this involves, but we assume it'll be pretty simple and just like signing up for a forum. You select one Pokemon for your boxes to go over to your Dream World account.

The Dream World has many different aspects to it. You can grow your berries here and find items and Pokemon not available in Unova. There are also minigames that you can play.

One important thing to note about the Dream World is that it can only be accessed once per 24 hours, and for only one consecutive hour each day. So make you hour count, people!

Your House

DWHouseoutside.png
You'll get a house within the Dream World that is yours to decorate, the furniture being bought through the glorious currency of berries! Upon visiting the Dream World for the first time you will be able to visit a girl in Nacrene City and she will make more furniture for you (although a fair amount of it will be available to you upon first connecting to the Dream World). You can link your house to friend's houses to allow your Pokemon to play with each other. This is also how you'll be able to trade items with them.

You can check out the doormat in front of your door, and it will tell you who's visited if you are linked up with friends.

Inside the home there is also a treasure chest that allows trainers to place items that they will be able to access in their games in the Entralink area. Also, there is a bulletin board that displays the Pokemon that you have waiting to send to the Entralink as well as previously sent Pokemon. You can have up to 10 Pokemon ready to be sent, and have up to 50 already sent. Upon the second board being filled with 50 Pokemon you will no longer be able to send anymore Pokemon. Whether this means that only 50 Pokemon can be captured in the Dream World is not known at the moment.

Your Garden

Your Garden is where you can grow berries and trade items with other members. From outside your house, you can view your Dream World Pals and one random Dream World user's house. Also, you can see anyone who has visited you by looking at the Footprint Mat.

Pokemon

DWPokemon.png

Within the Dream World you'll sometimes encounter Pokemon that aren't found in the region of Unova, which means they're most likely Pokemon that are native to Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh. If you manage to befriend the Pokemon you encountered in the Dream World, that Pokemon will become available in a specific area of Unova. You'll be able to capture them there.

As well as obtaining new Pokemon through this method, you may also find that some have different abilities to what they'd usually have. Examples that we know of are Vaporeon with Hydration instead of Water Absorb and Glaceon with Ice Body instead of Snow Cloak.

Dream Isle

DWTree.png

The Dream Isle is the location where you venture out and find Pokemon. By clicking arrows you travel around the area that you happen to be in, and you have 10 screens to search for Pokemon and items. Upon finding a Pokemon on your journey you will have to play a mini-game and perform admirably enough for the Pokemon to agree to befriend you. After you have been through 10 screens of searching you will be taken to the, brilliantly named, Dream Tree™! There you will be able to offer up an item or berry that you found in exchange for the Pokemon and they will be sent to the Entralink Forest. Those you don't trade an item for will be sacrificed to the God of Victory, Victini! (They play for keeps, man).

Also, if you do not find any Pokemon that you want to take with you you can simply skip this procedure and go off and do the whole thing again. However, if you offer up an item in exchange for the life of Pokemon you are not allowed onto Dream Isle until the next day (so for the love of Pete people, make your actions meaningful! I'm not joking around anymore).

When you amass more points better Pokemon will become available in the areas that you have, and even more areas will become unlocked for you to explore.

Items

You'll find items in the Dream World that you can send back to Black and White. These items can also be traded with friends, and it's as simple as a few clicks of the mouse to trade items. You can store up to 9 items on your personal Share Shelf. Trading items with others is a great way to earn some quick Dream Points, but one restriction applies. You're only allowed to swap an item with someone else's shelf if you don't already have that same item in your Dream World inventory.
