Galvantula is based on a tarantula. It is known as the electric spider Pokemon.

Pokédex

Black: When attacked, they create an electric barrier by spitting out many electrically charged threads.

White: They employ an electrically charged web to trap their prey. While it is immobilized by shock, they leisurely consume it.

Galvantula was one of a number of Pokemon revealed through a new trailer for the games shown on Oha Suta on Sunday 28th June. It was originally only visible from the back.
