IR

A very convenient feature

The IR menu features four options. It uses the Infra Red capabilities of your DS, DSi and 3DS to connect to a friend in close proximity. The features are as follows:

Contents

Battle

This option is for a quick battle with your friend over IR. The battle begins immediately and uses your current team in battle. This type of battle is also a nice easy way to check your Pokemon's IVs, as the battle rules exclude the Species Clause. Your Pokemon are all automatically set at Lvl. 50 for these battles.

When you select Battle, you'll be given four battle options to choose from.

The IR Battle rules are nice and simple, as these battles are designed just for fun. The rules of IR battles are;

No limit to the level of the participating Pokemon.
All the Pokemon are set to lvl.50 for the duration of the battle.
Trainers can use the Wonder Launcher.

Trade

Another quick option, this time for trade. You can select Pokemon from both your Party and Boxes in order to make a quick trade with a nearby friend. It's a really great time saver, especially as you can access your C-Gear anywhere, rather than having to make your way to a Pokemon Center.

Feeling Check

Yet another nice and quick option, this time involving your Touch Screen. It is a completely new feature, which allows you and your friend to interact via Infra Red. The interaction will show how compatible you and your friend are, and will score you accordingly. If your compatibility is between 00 and 60, then you'll receive a Item sweet-heart.png Sweet Heart. For 60 to 99 you'll receive two. A perfect score of 100 will get you 3. Sweet Hearts can be traded in for a Item heart-scale.png Heart Scale, once you have ten.

Friend Code

This option is a quick way of transferring Friend Codes between you and your friends. Using this, you can easily exchange Friend Codes with people you meet, and then battle or trade with them over WiFi later. Nifty? Yes it is.
