Nimbasa City

Nimbasa City: Stadiums and musicals and subways, oh my!

Japanese name: Raimon City

North of the desert - at a crossroads between two bridges - lies another major city - Nimbasa City. Many plot-related events happen here.

Features

Nimbasa City is a city of lights and is very large. Route 5 is west of the city while Route 16 is east of it. The most notable features of Nimbasa City are:

  • Gear Station, the central hub of the Battle Subway. As you first approach it, an NPC will walk out and present you with the VS. Recorder. An NPC within is the in-game IV Checker.
  • Two stadiums, in which there are athletes which you can battle every day. The sports vary, with Baseball, Football and Soccer taking place in the Big Stadium, and Tennis and Basketball in the Small Court. The levels of their Pokemon depend on the number of badges you have. Defeating them all will sometimes gain you an item.
  • A person in the top-left building of the city will give you the Item hm-normal.png HM04 Strength.
  • A woman in the Musical Hall will give you Item tm-normal.png TM49 Echo Voice.
  • The PokeMart here features the TMs for Light Screen, Safeguard, Frustration, Return, Reflect, Thunder Wave and Gyro Ball. They're all fairly expensive, but remember that they no longer break.
  • A large Ferris Wheel, where you may encounter and battle a trainer every day.

Events

  • When you first walk into the city, you will save an old man being harassed by Team Plasma.

Gym

The gym here, styled after a Rollercoaster, is owned by Elesa, who specializes in Electric-type PokeMon.

In this gym you will need to take a string of roller-coaster cars along glowing tracks, battling trainers and activating new pathways along the way.

Elesa will bestow the Item bolt-badge.pngBolt Badge upon the trainers who succeed in defeating her. After obtaining this badge Pokemon up to level 50 will obey you. You will also receive Item tm-electric.png TM72 Volt Change: a new move that, like U-Turn, switches out your Pokémon after you attack.
