Japanese name: Nibi City

Home of the first gym the player can challenge, Pewter City is the centre of geology for the Kanto region. From the Museum of Science's fossil exhibit to the Rock-type Gym, no scientist is left wanting.

Features

• The Pewter Meseum of Science costs 50 to enter, and contains exhibits on various fossilised Pokemon such as Aerodactyl and Kabutops. It has two floors; the first contains the fossils, whilst the second features the Space Shuttle Columbia alongside a Moon Stone.

• Once the player has a Pokemon that knows HM01 Cut, they can access the back of the museum, where an old man will give away an Old Amber fossil. This can be revived into an Aerodactyl in the Pokemon Mansion on Cinnabar Island.

Events

• If the player attempts to leave Pewter City to enter Route 3, a boy will stop them and lead them to the Gym.

Gym

The gym here is owned by Brock, and specialises in Rock-type Pokemon.

The layout is extremely simple, featuring only a single trainer other than Brock himself. Even he can be easily avoided.

Brock will bestow the Boulder Badge upon trainers who manage to defeat him, allowing them to use HM05 Flash outside of battle. They will also receive TM34 Bide.
