Route 2 gives access to a lot of areas, although some aren't available until later in the game.

Features

Route 2 gives access to not only Viridian Forest, but also Diglett's Cave. Whilst the latter is only accessible to those who have a Pokemon that knows HM01 Cut, it effectively cuts the route into two separate halves.

In the only house on the route, a man will offer to exchange his Mr. Mime for the player's Abra (Red and Blue versions) or Clefairy (Yellow version).

Several items can be found hidden around the route. An HP Up can be found south of the gate, and a Moon Stone is in a tree to the south of the gate.

Events

• Towards the south end of the eastern side, one of Professor Oak's Aides will offer the player HM05 Flash if they have registered ten or more Pokemon in their Pokedexes.
