Route 4 can be said to go between Cerulean City and either Route 3 or Mt. Moon.

Features

Route 4 is split into two halves by Mt. Moon. The western half lies between Route 3 and Mt. Moon, whilst the eastern half goes on to Cerulean City.

The western half contains a Pokemon Centre, one of just two outside the towns and cities of Kanto.

The eastern half effectively cuts the previous part of the game off from the later parts, as there is no way back without going through Diglett's Cave or using HM02 Fly.

• TM04 Whirlwind can be found on the second-highest hill, whilst a Great Ball is hidden directly east of Mt. Moon's exit.

Events

• Inside the Pokemon Centre in the western half of the route, a man will try to sell the player a Magikarp for 500. He does not offer refunds.
