Where're my details?
The Games Database software is throwing a hissy fit right now and this bit isn't working. We'll have a fix up ASAP.
Japanese name: Tokiwa City
The first major city the player will encounter. To the north is Route 2, to the south is Route 1 and to the west is Route 22.
A small city, Viridian offers little to the trainer just starting out. While it has a gym, it is locked at first, only unlocking when the player gets all seven other badges.

The gym here is owned by Giovanni, and specialises in Ground-type Pokemon.
Here you will have to navigate transportation tyles, similar to those in the Rocket Hideout. Behind one of the tyles is a
Revive, making this the only gym to have items in it. Most of the trainers are Black Belts and Cooltrainers, with a couple of Tamers thrown in for good measure.
Eventually you will reach Giovanni, who waits in the top-left corner of the gym.
