The Xtransceiver (pronounced 'cross transceiver') is a feature of the C-Gear that is used for video communication with in-game characters and real-world friends over local wireless.

The Basics

The XTransceiver is similar to the PokeGear in that it allows for communication between characters. Often, when Professor Juniper needs to tell you something, she'll contact you in this method. The Xtransceiver divides the screen in four, which is typically a space for you, the Professor, Bianca, and Cheren. Additionally, your mother may call as well.

The Xtransceiver can be used using the C-Gear, where you can talk to up to three other people. It can also be used at the Global Terminal in Pokemon Centres. It works like a radio by using the microphone, and in the case of the DSi line and 3DS, the camera can be used for local video chatting.
