Nem's great big Pokemon run down thingy

[1-100] [101-200] [201-300] [301-386]

201. Tyrouge-I don't like the purple skin, but he is a cute bugger. I still like the Hitmonkid name better, but still. Interestingly, to me, the Tyrouge line is the only set gender one to not have a female equivalent. The evolution method could be a bugger, but was easy enough once you knew how.
202. Hitmonchan-I love using him in RP, due to his versatility. He not only has all those punching attacks, he can kick and stuff too. He looks pretty cool, but Katie's Sailor Hitmonchan made me look at him in a completely different light.
203. Hitmonlee-Hitmonlee on the other hand is harder for me to use, I'm not sure why. It could be the fact I dislike the stretchy legs. The body shape is really quite cool though.
204. Hitmontop-See above with the RP thing. For some reason they dropped the tradition of the Hitmon name having something to do with a famous person like Lee and Chan and replaced it with a spinning top…..
205. Makuhita-It's a big fat Pikachu which took up martial arts! Seriously, what is it with the Pika look a likes in RS? Quite plain, but a good fighter, the one time I used it anyway.
206. Hariyama-Actually quite cool. I love those big hands. Those are cool overlarge eyebrows too. Damn, I can never seem to talk about Pokemon I actually LIKE.
207. Machop-It's a little plain, but very versatile RP wise. Not too sure on it's strength though. In RB one was building a house, and it still hadn't managed it in GS three years later!
[Or in FR/LG :-p-Gary]
208. Machoke-Again very plain, but very useable. I find it interesting it has a belt to regulate it's power, but Machamp merely has a champion belt.
209. Machamp-strange, the RS sprite seems to have no belt, and neither does the Sugimori pic. Must just be the anime art. I know it has one in that, I'm looking as I type. I find it hard to work with something with more than a regular set of limbs for some reason, it's ok looking though.
[I like it a lot more than Machoke... probably mostly because i don't like the Machoke sprites, it's also a much nicer colour-Gary]
210. Spoink- Haha, classic. The name, the looks, it has the making of being a cool humorous Pokemon. It's like the Pokemon version of Zebedee.
[Time for bed, BOING-Gary]
211. Grumpig-Nice name, and as someone showed me, great in RP. I really quite like this line, for some reason, hence the lack of writing. =p
212. Vulpix-Cuteness! How come we never see them with one white tail as mentioned in the Pokedex though? That would have been cool if a newly hatched Vulpix had one tail, and gained one every time it went up a level, up till level 6 of course, but unrealistic, because of the amount of sprites needed.
213. Ninetales-It's quite strange really, I love Arcanine, my sister loves Ninetales, and we each had the respective one in our RB teams, which in a lot of ways were very simular. It's a cool gracious looking Pokemon, although it looks better lighter coloured, like it was before the RS sprite.
214. Growlithe-One more to go until the God! I liked growlithe, until I raised one up to Lv 50 to evolve. By Lv 30 I was bored of it, like I was with it's nickname, "Blaze", so I simply renamed it Arcanine when it evolved. James should have taken his Growlithe with him dammit!
[...and kicked it to evolve it :-p-Gary]
215. Arcanine- Yay! Forget Charizard, this is the fire breathing DADDY! Great looking, great background, great pokedex entries. A golden Arcanine would kick major ass (I think I drew one once, no idea where it is), as would a real version of my fan made monster, Monarcanine. (Monarch + Arcanine). I just love it, like the way it runs and stuff. It's offical Anime art isn't the best, the Promo card I found online a little while ago was defiantly the best I have found. Obviously, one of my highest levels in RB. I never liked catching Pokemon later on and leveling them up, but Arcy was an exception to that. I should stop now...
[I do like Arcanine, not as much as Nem here (he used to be called Arcanine2k you see... :-p) but it does look really cool. I like the fact it's considered a 'legendary' Pokemon but isn't an actual legendary-Gary]
216. Houndour-GS's attempt to add more to the dark type roster, and provide an evil version of Growlithe. Admittedly, the skull on it's head looks pretty cool, as well as those things on it's back.
[I like it's R/S sprite now but it looked nasty in G/S/C... put me off it from the start-Gary]
217. Houndoom-yeah, it's cool, but it's no Arcanine is it? I used it in GS when I was trying to get Kings Rocks, using thief. I think I eventually got one. That tail is pretty cool, I like evil things, but Arcanine beats it hands down.
218. Numel-Too cutsey and bleh. Strange, because I some times like cutsey, but whatever. Not to mention those little legs are just stupid.
[It looks dopey... but that's deliberate in this case. I don't really like most of the R/S Fire Pokemon... mostly because there are about 8/9 in total. I do however hold a torch for Blaziken... =p- Gary]
219. Camerupt-Dopey looking, but those volcanoes are semi-cool. I have no idea why there are three circles on it's back though. Never paid much attention to it really.
[They looked like smoke rings to me so i simply assumed that's what they were meant to symbolise-Gary]

220. Slugma-very simple and mehish. In some pictures it's just plain ugly.
[I'd like to pour salt on one of these and see if they melt...-Gary]

221. Magcargo-Slugma with a shell! Nothing out of the ordinary. I hate those two blobs of lava dripping from it's mouth though..
[I've been asked more than once... for some reason they decided to ask me... why they called this Magcargo when Slugma was named after a slug. 'Why not call it Snailma?'... They obviously don't know that Escargo is french for Snails... hence, it gets its name from Magma and Escargo... Don't ask me again! -Gary]
222. Torkoal-Ok, put your self in the position of someone working on Pokemon RS. In GS you had Magcargo. A red fire type with a black shell which had fire coming from it. One of the new Pokemon which has been decided for RS is Torkaol. It's a red fire type with a black shell which has flame coming from it. You put it next to Magcargo in the Pokedex. Yet it doesn't evolve from it. Come on! I know because there was a lack of backwards trading many evolutions of past Pokemon were not included, but Magcargo WAS in RS dammit, and in need of an evolution. It looked better than Magrcargo at least, I couldn't stand another ugly fire type.
[Confused the hell out of us on the Cryptimon hunt... We were all absolutely CERTAIN it evolved from Magcargo -Gary]
223. Chansey-A great asset to my Red team. Softboiled means you don't need potions during the elite four, you just heal yourself in battle and your team mates out of it. Always a bugger to get though, but worth it. A little too pink for me though. It's nursing role was just plain funny.
[Never liked it, despite the obvious HP advantages... I just don't like it-Gary]
224. Blissey-I caught a new Chansey in GS, and used it to catch the Legendary dogs, it just happened to evolve during the process. I would have evolved my Red Chansey, but by the time I traded it, it was Level 99. Bilssey is much better looking than Chansey, strange since they are quite similar. My brain is just strange.
[Stel, and just about everyone elses from the Tavern etc calls this thing Pissey... quite right too :-p-Gary]
225. Khangaskhan-Pretty cool looking, and that baby 'Khan is too damn cute. Very rare, so hardly used, by me atleast. I like those cool hands for some reason. It reminds me a little bit of the Nido-monarchs for some reason.
[Just once... just once i'd like to see that baby out of that damn pouch... and another thing. They're all female... where exactly do the babys come from?-Gary]
226. Tauros-Just looks plain cool. Those three studs down it's head is also pretty nifty for some reason. I always thought it would have been a great idea to have a small beast, which evolved in to either Tauros or Milktank depending on gender, but it never materialised.
[Ash using this in the Orange Island Final definitely boosted it's standing in my eyes. Whilst i've not actively trained one I do happen to like Tauros now and have used it more than once in Stadium-Gary]
227. Milktank-Seemingly bought in to compliment the baby Pokemon, and Blissey. Blissey has the healing egg, and Milktank has, well milk. They both have exclusive moves, ie softboiled and Milk Drink. I hated it the first time I saw it, damn Whitney and her roll-outing cow.
[I reckon i could like this thing better if it got down on all fours instead of that frightening dance it's doing... Udders shouldn't be visible like that-Gary]
228. Doduo-Veeeeery plain. I have no interest in it at all, there is no reason to.
229. Dodrio-Same as above, but better looking, and the fighting heads are cool. Not quite sure how it flies though…
[Hehehehe, Cock-a-doodle-doo Pallet Town!-Gary]
230. Farfetch'd-There was a reason we placed him after Doduo, to avoid confusion. In my origanal RB master guide, Farfetch'd apparently evolved in to Doduo. Strange that, you have to trade to get the only one, yet it evolves in to a fairly common one. Apparently the first few waves of jungle (or fossil, I forget,) cards also stated that evolution. It's pretty average, but you have to love the leek.
[Again, fairly average really... Not bad overall though. A nice bird to use if you need one... probably wont though-Gary]
231. Rhyhorn-Pretty plain, but not bad. Remember the pinken island version? XD I like charging Pokemon for somereason, although it is quite limited imaginatively.
[Unless it's pink :-p-Gary]
232. Rhydon-Yay! Remember the Cinnabar Gym battle? I think that was one of the first times Pikachu used the "shock them in the mouth" technique. I think he attacked the horn too. Rhydon standing there with lightning shooting in to it's horn just looks cool.
[Thank you Ash :-p, gave me plenty of chances to use that in RP, ask Nem ^_~-Gary]
233. Phanpy- Cuteness! Ash should have kept his one, leaving it in the lab made the whole egg arc pointless. I really do like it, small = good in RP
234. Donphan- Hilarious in the first movie. I thought it was going to be huge, but no, it's seriously undersized. To me it's face always looks squished up with that armour, but it's roll out looked cool in that film, so it's all good.
[It was rather special to see this for the first time in Pokemon the First Movie, i'd never seen most of the G/S Pokemon because i wasn't into the whole job at the time but it did make me fall in love with little Donphan here-Gary]
235. Trapinch- Fugly and stupid looking. Also looks really slow, but probably worth putting up with it for it's evolutions.
236. Vibrava-Also a little ugly and very like Yanma visually. In fact, when I first saw it I thought it could be it's evolution. Those wings are quite cool, another cool speedy slamming pokemon me thinks.
[I love the name... my dirty mind always changes the letters...lol-Gary]
237. Flygon-Ground and dragon! Squee! Double weak to ice, which is a shame since most fully evolved dragons are. It looks cool, especially those spike son it's head. Anything dragon is cool.
[I do like it... but not when fighting it. Damn bloody Drake-Gary]
238. Swablu- Kinda stupid looking, it has clouds for wings for christs sake. The name also leaves a lot to be desired.
[I much prefer it to it's evo, very cute looking IMO. I want to see if the clouds swirl in the anime/Colosseum-Gary]
239. Altaria-It flew in to a cloud and got stuck! I really don't feel anything positive for this pair, I guess they ARE dragon's which is a slight plus, but we already have enough dragon/flying for my liking.
240. Horsea- Squee! Cuteness! Especially it's RS sprite. I was always found of the little sea horse, it was cool in the anime.
241. Seadra-A proud member of my first team, and got the pleasure of joining my Arcanine, who replaced my traded Charizard and Blastoise, respectively. It looks so good in it's RS sprite, with those spiked fins and the fins on it's chest.
[YOU TRADED A CHARIZARD! HEARTLESS FIEND!-Gary]
242. Kingdra-It's official art has an ugly face, but the newer sprites make it look better, thankfully. It looks much plainer than Seadra, which is a shame, it's fins suck in comparson.
[...I hate this... it looks like it's melted or something... Bleargh-Gary]
243. Bagon-Another RS Lavitar, and it's a cute one! I fought one in RP once, and it was so funny, falling from the sky using brick break. Yea, this fella has a place in my heart.
244. Shellgon-Let's go and ruin the line shall we? It looks terrible, like Pupitar, but worse. Ok, you can make it just a shell, but a shell with legs? NO!
[The theory... is nice... the way they did it is terrible... A Bigger Bagon would have just done-Gary]
245. Salamance- Yay! I love him! Those things rock, and that spiky head shape just kicks D-Nite out of the window. I really must get me one of those.
[It's alright... a nice dragon type and although it's winged it's grounded and not a Barney... Definitely think a black one would be a looot better... *looks to Stel*-Gary]
246. Dratini-The original dragon Pokemon. It is very plain, but like Ghastly with the ghosts, you had to put up with it if you wanted a Dragon type. It's "ears" are cool too. I have an extremespeed one from crystal somewhere, maybe I should use it next time I play.
247. Dragonair-Now, it's Pokedex bangs on about it's weather change ability, so why not implement this in RS in the form of a characteristic? That would have been excellent, when you finally got one in to RS, or in FRLG. It could randomly use a weather type attack, like sunny day or rain dance. Those orbs on it's body are SO cool.
248. Dragonite- Yay! As many people know, in RP I have the legendary Golden Dragonite, my rpized possesion, and I love it! The D-Nite used in the Orange League champion battle was pretty crappy, so I like to invision it in my own way, as a booming powerhouse.
[I love you... you love me... we're as happy as can be... with a hyper beam and a thunder bolt to thee... i'll get beaten by a cheating rat... It did give us one of the best anime battles ever though so I have to hand it that. That and the fact it's one of the most powerful pokemon ever-Gary]
249. Tropius- Meganium anyone? Seriously, it MUST have been related to that line at some point in development. It is grass/flying, with no apparent link to the flying type at all, which is strange. It's head is awesome, that green helmet thing in particular.
[The leaves are meant to act as helicopter Rotars... at least that's the theory. Until Ash gets flattened by one doing such a thing we'll never know for sure-Gary]
250. Absol-There is a reason it is 250, both me and Gary love it to pieces. I want to curse the people who made those fake names and called it Goatsevil, you corrupted my mind. Its colour scheme is the best, as is the wicked horn, and tail. It's pad like feet are also very good looking.
[Stel also agrees... as does Katie no-doubt that Absol RULEZ ALLZ. Seriously, all of us fell in love with this lovely Pokemon and it's definitely bumped up into my top 5 -Gary]
251. Snorunt- O_o Indeed. What were they on when they made this? I'm not at all sure what it is meant to be, so I think I should leave it to Gary on that one…
[It looks like one of those weird people who wear hooded coats etc and claim they can see the future.... God knows how it's meant to evolve into to what's to come though-Gary]
252. Glalie-Agaiin, Mr. Oak may be able to fill you in more than me. It is really quite odd, but adds to the ice type roster, so it's a plus. It looks better than it's pre evolution too.
[I do love this... it looks reeeeeally cool. I've never had one though because they're absolutely a bitch to get. It looks like a hockey mask on a demon to me. Really it just looks damn cool- Gary]
253. Seel-Ugly mouth, and not a very good battle Pokemon, because I never know how it would move out of water, I don't like the idea of them floating magically.
254. Dewgong-Better, but still has that out of water problem. In water, it's fine, but in RP that isn't always possible. I never used it, so can't say too much more.
255. Spheal-Call it Ballrus dammit! It's really cute, and has a great RS sprite. There are loads of water types, and I don't like most, but Spheal makes it on to the list. It looks to me a little like Wailmer.
[I made a promise to myself last year when Nem did the original R/S run down... if i ever caught one of these i'd call it Boll*cks, a play on Ballrus... Aint caught one yet though :-p-Gary]
256. Sealo-Also, very cute. That moustache is just funny, and at least it can move on land, unlike another similar water line I have mentioned.
257. Walrein-Got to love the comedy look, and has cool tusks too. The "mane" is a little strange, but tolerable.
[....lol....sorry...can't...help....self.... I AM THE WALREIN, GOO - GOO - GA - JUB!-Gary]
258. Lapras-Rare in most versions, and at a low level when you get it, meaning it never made my team. It's quite cool looking, shame it's anime appearance was just so Ash could travel the Orange Islands.
[Stel says it needs more teeth... I actually agree in parts. It reminds me of Nessie... to those in the know i mean the Loch Ness Monster, not a very good friend of mine :-p-Gary]
259. Psyduck-I dislike it's RS sprite, but you have to love the anime version. A little like Togepi in a way, powerful, but it doesn't quite now how to use that power. I never really used it in game, so don't really know how it plays.
[I loved it when it absolutely hammered Jessie's Lickitunge in the Princess Day Festival Battle.... hehehehe... It had some great moments in the anime and yay for it's return in Misty's AG Appearance-Gary]
260. Golduck-I like this one, maybe because of its "legendary" type description, looking like a Japanese monster and stuff. It also looks very cool, and that one in the anime seriously ruled. It would be quite a good agile fighter methinks, and it's psychic attacks help it loads.
[Teh Kappa! It looks weird to me... but i loved it when Misty thought Psyduck evolved and battled using a wild Brock like version...lol-Gary]
261. Wynaut-Cuuuuuute. Probably conceived when GS compatibility with RS was thought possible, unless it was always planned that only Wynuat and Azurill would be related to old Pokemon. It is kind of strange that the parents must be holding an item to breed this beast, but I suppose it fills in the plot hole as to why eggs would have Wobbuffet in GS yet Wynaut in RS. It also gives some more options for Wobbuffet's move set, so it's all good.
[Was in the second batch of Pokemon revealed to us before R/S's release and verrrry cute-Gary]
262. Wobbuffet-In GS it had a good move set, yet very boring to train, since it all ready had all it's moves. Its use in the anime as another comedy beast didn't really help it's popularity, did it Gary? ;-)
[XD....I rather disliked the anime Wobb... probably because it litterally bunked Psyduck from center stage... When Curtis walloped me with it in the old RPGCCG PBT though I found new respect for this creature and it has crept onto my teams - Gary]
263. Carvahna-This could so easily evolve from Qwilfish, and maybe in the perfect game, with all of the Pokemon, it would have. It is pretty cool looking, it's those head spikes that do it for me.
[My Dog it was weird this one... Great looking and all but it was it's evolution that was revealed first and hence we all thought Sharpedo evolved into Carvanha... I still think it should some times-Gary]
264. Sharpedo-Another one we saw quite early. I was disappointed that it evolved from Carvahna, but I can cope with that. It's body seems very short, as if some one cut it in half or something.
[Weirdest thing ever to see in the anime... because litterally it looks like someone cut their head off. I also think the anime did them far too big...-Gary]
265. Electrike-When I first saw this, I was sure that was a lily pad on his head, and sometimes I still see it. We have plenty of fire dogs, so the first non legendary thunder dog was pretty cool for me, seeing as I like those beasts.
266. Manetric-I'll save Gary from saying it, what's wrong with the name Raibolt(Raybolt) dammit? It's back view made me laugh when I first saw it, since it really looks as if it is swearing at you, although I am sure that isn't intentional. I really do like him, especially those spiky bits on it's legs.
[Raybolt was done the great unjustice of a bastardised name... despite that i did fall in love with it in my Japanese Sapphire and is the only Pokemon i've actually ever given a nick name to Pre FR/LG... simply because it's name should be Raybolt... Damn NOA-Gary]
267. Mareep- SQUEE! One of my favourite lines starts here. Unfortunately in GS you almost always ended up with a similar team at the beginning of the game, and therefore it stayed the same until you caught something worth having. Mareep was ALWAYS in my team, mainly because I love it's final form.
[Yah... my team in G/S was always the same... I hated that about G/S. Mareep of course took up an easy position but it was it's evolved form that realllly stayed with me-Gary]
268. Flaaffy-Horrible colour and design, but worth it for it's last form. Interestingly for me, there are only 2 three stage electric lines in the whole series, although I don't tend to consider Pichu's line to be a proper one, since you have to breed to get the first stage.
269. Ampharos-Ah, because of a stupid magazine, there was a time I thought this was called Sincerity. Damn stupid name anyway. He just looks really cool, and is great in RP. Gary doesn't like him, but he is my favourite electric type. EVER.
[Lol.... it looks daft... but i've ALWAYS had it on my G/S team. The first time i saw it in the anime intro it litterally scared the living hell out of me. It soooo did not look like a Pokemon. It also bears no resemblance to a sheep... I'd have preferred a huge sheep with large electric cannons on it's shoulders-Gary]
270. Chinchou-Cool types, but pretty ugly, and depends on water to fight in effectively which I dislike in any beast. (Of course, I'm talking RP wise here.)
271. Lanturn-Much cuter, but still has the problem of movement. The antenna type things are pretty good too.
[Hehehehe, it's based on one of my favourite ever fish so I do happen to like Lanturn. Terrible Pokemon to train though so i dumped my last one-Gary]
272. Clamperl-* cough * Shellder * cough * I prefer the original over this to be honest, mainly because the sprite isn't very clear, and I can't really imagine the shell. It has multiple evolutions though, so I guess that is a plus.
[This is actually a lot more of a Clam than Shellder ever was... but Shellder really does beat it... mind you, it's alright looking-Gary]
273. Huntail-Hmm, yes. Does the word fugly come to mind to any one else? It's pretty plain though, sadly.
[BLEARGH!-Gary]
274. Gorebyss-Stupid looking, yet kind of cool. Maybe these evolutions could have been a little less plain, but there you go.
[.... BLEARGH!-Gary]
275. Shellder- It's so cute! Especially in the anime, I wouldn't be able to use it in RP effectively, but some people may be able to.
[I want to have a new special Shellder evo which is the Slowbro shell without the Slowpoke stuck to it... The coily shell is a looot cooler looking...-Gary]
276. Cloyster-Seriously, that's a Ghastly in there. I'm sure of it. Ah, this takes me back to my series of fan made Pokemon, including the Cloyster evolution who's name escapes me. It MAY have been Krustacion, but I think that was a Kingler evolution. Anyway, It is pretty groovy looking, but I have never used one.
[... This however seriously rocks... It's pretty much a bigger and spikier Shellder, few people ever take the time to flip it round to see it that way though. I do love Cloyster though and would use it a lot more in RP if water Pokemon wern't such a bugger for movement-Gary]
277. Dunsparce-Kind of pointless really. Rare, and lacks an evolution, so very rarely used. It's face is pretty horrible, but I like that drill tail.
[¬_¬... Never liked it and never understood why it was such an annoying bitch to get in G/S/C-Gary]
278. Yanma-See above really. In it's defence I guess it has that "charging madly" image, which I like, as you should know by now.
[IT HAS A CATERPIE FOR A HEAD! I seriously thought this evolved from Caterpie when G/S first came my way... oh how disappointed I was to learn it was a meaningless bug which no-one would ever use and barely remember existed-Gary]
279. Volbeat-I REALLY don't like that sprite. It's ok, I guess, but nothing special. Could do with an evolution or something.
[The sugimori does it better justice, trust me. It was great as a brand new Pokemon when it came out with Kecleon and Wailmer years ago-Gary]
280. Illumise-What a disappointment this was. Irumize (Which was the Japanese name, I think, Gary may have to correct me) was thought to be the air equivalent of Kyogre and Groudon, because it's name means something like air god. Then we find it isn't that, it's not even an evolution of Volbeat, it's the female counterpart. I dislike it because of the hope we had for it, and the fact that it's "waistcoat" looks stupid.
[Illumise, which is essentially Irrumize, R is L in Japanese and so is S/Z. Yeah, we all thought this was essentially Rayquaza... of course we had no pictures or anything. Just a name that was released alongside Kaiorca and Garuradon, both of which were later revealed with help of Coro-Coro and the box art for the games. Illumise is pathetic. It looks like a gameshow host or something and I really cannot stand it.-Gary]
281. Goldeen-More water types? Bah. Goldeen is extremely pain and boring, and I doubt it was ever used on a widespread basis.
[It's joke appearance in SSB:M was brilliant, if a little annoying. Whereas releasing a Pokemon from a Pokeball item would give you a powerful weapon against your enemy, such as Blastoise's guns blasting your enemy away or Charizard roasting them Goldeen simply splashed about. It was litterally a 'red herring'. Magikarp may have been more suitable but Goldeen played on the pun of Red Herring... meh, blame HAL Labs-Gary]
282. Seaking-This I don't get. Goldeen, known as the sea queen, evolves in to Seaking. Makes perfect sense I'm sure. Of course, GS confused this even more with genders.
283. Staryu-Quite plain, yet better than most. It's sound in the anime was cool, "Hyyyyyyyyaa!" and at least there is a reason it floats, using psychic power.
284. Starmie-Even better, and know it gets the psychic type. I just want to know, what happened to Staryus damn you!?
[Hehehehe, i like it when it's beaten in the anime... i'd have loved to have seen it in the games. Maybe it's in Colosseum, but it's certainly not in Stadium... Damn-Gary]
285. Mr Mime-Something I forgot to mention earlier was how Machamp can be female, which to me seems plain wrong. Mr Mime has the same problem, although there is an excuse. The Japanese name had no gender prefix like Mr, so that version had no problem. It's RS sprite is pretty sucky, it looks like it's head is on back to front.
[It's only actual good point is it's great Anime Appearences...-Gary]
286. Likitung-Christ. Only 100 to go. If there's anyone still reading, hang on for the ride, it'll all be over soon. Anyway, I like the 'tung, it is just a shame it was trade only in RB, and that it was caught at the end of fellow. It's first anime appearance, when it beat almost every opponent was sadly not followed up, and it got hardly any action after being traded for Wobuffet. It is weird but cool.
287. Stantler-I like the whole illusion creating thing, and it looks very cool. Well, the RS sprite has an ugly face, but the official art rocks.
[I love Stantler, it's a riding Pokemon and it has a great tactic i exploit to great effect in RP... create illusions and confuse your opponent! Heh, Santa loves him too ^_~-Gary]
288. Nidoran (F) -God, got six of these to do now. The two Nidorans are pretty plain, but do the job of introducing gender in to the games. It was quite a good idea really, it meant people weren't stumbling in to GS with no experience of Pokemon genders.
[It did create some annoyance though, especially since it's the only type to actually have two different lines for evolution depending on gender-Gary]
289. Nidorina-I always thought the snout was ugly, but you can't really see what I mean in the RS sprite, you need to be side on. I think I have used one in the past, but I never kept it. I found Nidorino much better.
[Me too, for more than one reason-Gary]
290. Nidoqueen-Now this is odd. Why on earth can the female Nidos not breed? I mean, it's not as if they are one off like the legendarys, and seeing as they are really the only line to truly have a male equivalent you would have thought that they were built for breeding. What's worse is that Nidoran (F) can breed, yet her evolutions can't. /end rant. Queenie looks really cool, I love that blue for some reason. And is it just me, or is she wearing a bra of some kind?
[Lol, those are just breasts under the armour or something *shrugs*-Gary]
291. Nidoran(M)-I have used so many of these it isn't funny anymore. I couldn't care less about Nidoran or Nidorino, it's the king I train them for. This form is just too plain.
292. Nidorino-Again, I can stand it, if only to when it gets enough moves to evolve it. I have never cared for the poison type anyway.
[^_^, I much prefer Nidorino to Nidorina... and many other Pokemon. I also love it's intro appearence in Red and FR/LG - Gary]
293. Nidoking-One of the masters, and one of "Dave's 6", the legendary Red team. He rules, can't move, but who cares. He can learn loads of element attacks, and resists electric. He comes close to perfection.
[I do love Nidoking... but trust me, get stuck with Pikachu against Nem's in an RP and you're left with only Anime tactics to rely on-Gary]
294. Porygon-Not really practical for battle, because of how sodding long it takes to get enough money for one. I think I got the Legendary Dogs faster than Porygon. It looks ok, but not special. Like Jynx, he managed to get an episode banned, mainly because some scenes gave kids seizures.
[It has never featured in a dubbed ep either... hopefully it will show up at some point-Gary]
295. Porygon2-Good idea, but bloody stupid looking. Again, never really used it, so I wouldn't know. Apparently it can fly in space, the Pokemon version of Beagle 2 perhaps?
[Until recently only Togetic and Porygon2 had not been in the anime (Pre R/S Pokemon of course). Now Togepi evolved all that's left is Porygon2. Porygon and Porygon2 seem to have gotten a bad rep in the anime... which is a real pity since it was actually Pikachu that caused the seizures... Porygon just happened to be in the ep for the ride-Gary]
296. Smeargle-Speaking of beagles… Smeargle is a really good Pokemon in my eyes, I'm unsure of his stats, but the ability to get any attack, and breed it without having to catch a Pokemon and breed one of the right gender, is a good addition. Some killer movesets could be created with this. Not to mention, it looks really good too.
[A Smeargle and a Ditto are essential breeding tools, neither of which can be used at the same time of course but both are very useful at getting the ultimate Pokemon... I caught one once using a cheat cart and called it Snoopy...lol-Gary]
297. Drowzee-Quite boring really, although good for a catcher, if you need to put them to sleep or something. It's not special really.
298. Hypno-Same, but I like it's look a little better. I never really felt anything for this duo, I may have used them a few times, mainly because I had nothing else.
299. Girafarig-I'm sure you all know the name origin, so I won't bother pointing it out. It looks pretty cool doesn't it? Like Stantler in a way. I am never quite sure of what to think about the tail, part of me hates it, part of me loves it.
[Freaks me out... really dislike that tail... it actually has a brain of it's own according to the Pokedex... weird-Gary]
300. Unown- Guess how many left? Anyway, the design is hardly groundbreaking, but that isn't their purpose. In GS they were an extra mystery, and unlocked a cool feature to print Unown messages off on a GB printer. However in FR LG they just led to more speculation, and we know now catching them does nothing, a bit of a let down really. The ! and ? seem a little pointless, unless you can still write messages, and are probably there for the novelty effect.
[Hmm.... Novelty Effect eh?????-Gary]
