News Round-Up 2/8/12

News may have been quite quiet since the Japanese release of Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 in Japan, however the last couple of days has seen a number of interesting things revealed, such as a couple of new C-Gear skins, the US release date for the 3DS app, Pokédex 3D pro, and a new Wifi tournament for Japan. Read on to find out more!
We'll start off with the Japanese centered news. To start off with we have a brand new C-Gear skin which is to celebrate the Pokémon World Championships 2012. The new skin features Pikachu holding what seems to be a wood mask. Fans will be able to download the new skin for Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 from the 20th of August until the 25th of September.

Along with the C-Gear skin a new Wifi tournament will be hosted through the Japanese Global Link during August. The tournament is the first for the new games and features two interesting changes to how things have been ran in the past. The first is the addition of a new rule, which means any players who disconnect will be unable to battle again for awhile and they will also have a few points knocked off their rating. The second change to be made is the addition of three different age categories like those seen during the VGC competitions. The tournament has 50,000 spaces overall with 10,000 of those being in Juniors and 20,000 in both Seniors and Masters.
The rules for the tournament are double battles, and players can only use Pokémon found in the Unova Pokédex from Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2. The only banned Pokémon are Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta and Genesect. Sign-ups will open on the 20th of August until the end of the 23rd of August. The tournament itself will run from the 24th of August until the 26th. To take part you need a Japanese Global Link account along with a copy of either of the two new games.

And finally, US release dates for the upcoming Pokémon Dream Radar, and Pokédex 3D Pro 3DS apps have been revealed. As expected the Pokémon Dream Radar will be released on the 7th of October alongside Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, however the Pokédex 3D Pro won't see a release until the 9th of November. The current version of the Pokédex app which is on the Nintendo 3DS' eShop for gamers to download for free will be taken down on the 1st of October.
