Detective Pikachu Returns at last on the 6th October
Originally announced all the way back in 2019 – ahead of the release of the Detective Pikachu movie starring Ryan Reynolds – a new Detective Pikachu game is finally landing on Switch on the 6th October.
Following on from the 2016 3DS original, as opposed to the movie, Detective Pikachu Returns features a distinctly non-Ryan Reynolds, but still very talkative, Pikachu, and the original – very white – Tim Goodman solving mysteries and helping people within Ryme City in much the same way as the original game.
As the original Detective Pikachu launched in Japan before Pokémon Sun & Moon, only a handful of Pokémon from the first six Generations appeared within it. Today’s new trailer quite prominently shows Pokémon from Alola and Galar, though so far no sign of any Paldean (or Hisuian) Pokémon – which might perhaps betray some of the development issues the game might have gone through after four years of total silence.
No additional details have been announced at this time, but you can pre-order the game digitally on the eShop from today for £39.99/$49.99 USD.
