Shaymin returns to Pokémon Go as free Special Research available to all players from tomorrow

Niantic has announced that the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin will return to Pokémon GO on April 20th, 2023. This is part of the Sustainability Week celebrations and will include a Special Research story entitled ‘Grass and Gratitude’. Unlike its debut last year for Pokémon Go Fest, this time, Shaymin will be available to all players as a reward for completing a free Special Research mission.

Players of Pokémon GO who take part in the Special Research will have the opportunity to catch Shaymin in its Land Forme. Players who already encountered Shaymin during Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will still be able to access and complete this Special Research and have the chance to catch Shaymin a second time.

In order to track down Shaymin, Professor Willow needs the help of players to complete the Special Research. Players may find that the gratitude they show on their journey is key to finding this Mythical Pokémon.

The rest of the Sustainability Week details were also recently announced, including the debut of the Bounsweet line to Pokémon Go. The event starts tomorrow, the 20th, at 10am and runs until the 26th of April at 8pm local time. You won’t need to complete the Shaymin special research during this event to be able to catch it, but the special research is likely to feature Pokémon that will be easier to find during it, so make sure to start it at least if you’re chasing after Shaymin.
